Commonwealth Games medals have been unveiled
With less than 100 days to go until the Commonwealth Games gets underway in Glasgow, Scotland, the gold, silver and bronze medals for the event have been unveiled today.
The medals were designed by Glasgow born artist and lecturer Jonathan Boyd, who has told the BBC:
“There’s blood, sweat and tears in those medals, just like the way athletes train and go through hell and back to get there, we’ve gone through the same.”
Each medal is being hand made by specialist jewellery makers in Glasgow’s School of Art and each weighs approx 100 grams.
Organisers have revealed that over 1,380 medals will be awarded during the games at 261 medal ceramonies.
I wonder who will be awarded the bronze, silver and gold at the hockey astro pitch this year for both the men’s and women’s competition?
