England Women’s Investec Cup squad announced

With less than a week until the London Investec Cup, the England Women’s squad has been announced.

With the team hoping to better their performance after a rather deflating World Cup, they have a few changes to the line up, with Holcombe’s Lucy Wood making her debut vs Wales in their first game of the tournament and Surbiton’s Giselle Ansley been called back into the squad.

With Jason Lee departure as head coach, Danny Kerry, England’s High Performance Director, has stepped up in the interim to help guide the girls to victory at Lee Valley, London.

Captain Kate Richardson-Walsh has stated:

“As ever we are delighted to play in our sponsor’s flagship event. It’s a great opportunity to get the team [tournament] ready for the Commonwealth Games and to play at our new legacy venue on Olympic Park. We hope everyone who comes to watch enjoys what is sure to be a fantastic tournament on home soil.”

The squad consists of the full 16 who are heading to the Commonwealth Games at the end of the month in Glasgow with East Grinstead goalkeeper Kirsty Mackay and Surbiton’s Sarah Haycroft making it 18.
